Australia's MUST SEE beaches!

Posted by Andrew Coleman on

It’s no secret that Australia has some of the best beaches in the world. So when it comes to finding that little hidden gem, well, there's an abundance of choices. It’s almost impossible to choose just one of Australia's most beautiful beaches, so below we’ve picked our top 5 favourite stretches of white sand and crystal clear waters that you need to add to your bucket list.

  • Turquoise Bay, WA
  • If you enjoy snorkelling with manta rays and exploring coral reefs, then Turquoise Bay is the place for you. The best part is, the colourful sea life and coral beds are only footsteps from the shore, so there's no need for a long boat ride. Surrounded by exquisite, clear-blue waters, Turquoise Bay is the perfect location for relaxing, swimming and water activities.

    2: Whitehaven beach, QLD

Pure white sand and crystal clear waters are what first come to mind when you hear of Whitehaven beach, and you will not be disappointed. The tranquil island stretches up to over 7km and looks as beautiful in person as it does in pictures. Another fascinating attraction of Whitehaven Beach are the gorgeous swirling patterns in the sand, which can be seen at low tide. Whitehaven beach is what postcards are made of and definitely earns a place on your bucket list.

Fun fact: The particular type of sand at Whitehaven beach is silica, a high purity form of sand that is extremely soft to touch.

    3: Lizard Island, QLD

Lizard Island is a hidden gem with over 23 gorgeous, white beaches to choose from. If you’re looking for a luxurious escape, Lizard Island is the place to indulge. Revel in private villas and make the most exclusive access to some of the most secluded beaches. Lizard Island is the perfect location to throw the beach trunks on and get off the grid for a few days.

Fun fact: Captain Cooked named Lizard Island when he passed it in 1770.

    4: Vivonne Bay

If you’re up for an adventure then this location is the one for you. Follow a little windy, dirt road and you're greeted with the bay of bright blue, crystal clear water and white sandy cliffs that is Vivonne Bay. Tucked behind rocky cliffs, it really is a hidden gem. You almost feel like the boats are floating on glass as the water is so still and so clear. The best part is, you’ll never see more than a handful of people (even during peak time,) so if you’re looking for a beach that is secluded and private, well, you won’t regret visiting Vivonne Bay.

    5: Hymas Beach, NSW

Home to the whitest sand in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records, Hyams Beach is nature's playground. There’s no need to wake up early to secure yourself a prime spot on the sandy white beach as the South Coast Beaches, luckily aren't over populated. If you enjoy a little splash and dip then Hymas Beach is just the place to put on those swim trunks as the water is clear and gentle. Water so clear you can watch your toes wiggle, who wouldn't want to visit this Slice of paradise.
